Valley City Thunder Football registration enters its 14th year and registers on a first-come, first-serve basis for Fall 2014 5th- and 6th-graders interested in participating in organized tackle football.

To register:

1. Mail a completed Thunder Football Registration Form with a check to

2. Turn in a completed Thunder Registration date on Wednesday, May 21 between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Hi-Liner Activities Center (HAC) lobby

Thunder Football’s registration deadline is June 30.

Hi-Liner Softball Blanks South on Parents Night

Hi-Liner softball celebrated four seniors in Tuesday’s regular season finale, an 11-0 Parents Night win over Fargo South in advance of Thursday’s 5 p.m. Eastern Dakota Conference Tournament matchup against the very same Bruins.

“It’ll be tougher to replace four seniors [Dierra Diegel, Danica Diegel, Jessica Denholm and Paula Andel],” said Valley City head coach Jason Lindgren of his graduating leaders. “But we have sophomores [Hannah Meyer, Heather Knutson, Kaylee Schlittenhardt, Brenna Dieterle and Tarryn Justesen] moving up.”

VCEA, SB Ink Tentative Pac

Valley City Teachers and the Valley City School Board reached tentative agreement on a contract for 2013 Monday after eight months of impasse.The agreement will become final after both the school board and members of the Valley City Education Association ratify it. CAD Software Arriving Soon

Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin expects Computer Information Systems Inc. of Skokie, Ill., to install new Computer Aided Dispatch software on dispatch, jail and law enforcement computers June 16 to 23. Tuesday McClaflin told commissioners CIS informed him it was “90 percent sure” the software would be installed during that week. “When I get the 100 percent email, I will let you know.” More in Wednesday's issue of the Times-Record.

UPDATE: Burglary Suspect in Custody

Paul Jacob Myles, the suspect in an early morning burglary at the Valley City AmericInn Monday, is in custody.
Just after Midnight Wednesday, Myles, 26, of Valley City, turned himself in to the Valley City Police Department in response to a warrant issued Tuesday for his arrest. He is held in the Barnes County Correctional Facility.

A serious accident on Eighth Avenue near Hilltop blocked traffic from moving both onto Interstate 94 and further on Eighth Avenue at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

David Rickford, volunteer with the local chapter of North Dakota Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, has announced two supervisors at the Valley City John Deere Seeding Group have been presented with Patriot Awards for supporting their employees who are in the National Guard or Reserve.
