A Right To Life amendment, limits on taxes, and ending the North Dakota Board of Higher Education will all be on the ballot in either the 2014 primary or general elections as initiated measures meeting state rules. More in Thursday's issue of the Times-Record.

Salvation Army Seeks Bell Ringers

The Barnes County Salvation Army unit is seeking volunteers to ring bells during this year's red kettle drive. The campaign, which raises money to help community members in need, begins Friday, Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving, and lasts until Christmas Eve.

The familiar red kettles will be set up at Leevers Foods, Marketplace Foods and Shopko in Valley City from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Disabled Vets Go Hunting

Disabled veterans from around North Dakota will soon have to participate in a special deer hunt at Camp Grafton near Grand Forks. Read more in Tuesday's Times-Record.

Feral Cats Are Rabies Concern

LaMoure 3, South Border 1; Loboes Face Linton/H-M-B for Region 3 Championship Thursday

District 5 champion Lady Loboes volleyball beat District 6 second-place South Border 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-17) in their Region 3 Tournament second-round match on Tuesday night and will face District 6 champion Linton/Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock for the championship, 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Napoleon, N.D.

Martens, Plowman NSAA All-Conference

Valley City State senior middle hitter Aurissa Martens was named the North Star Athletic Association Most Valuable Senior and made the NSAA Volleyball First Team All-Conference Team, as voted upon by coaches, the NSAA announced Tuesday.

VCSU sophomore libero Emily Plowman made the NSAA All-Conference Second Team.

Denholm Gets 1,000th Assist, (5) Fargo South 3, (4) Valley City 1

No. 5 Fargo South exacted revenge for their 3-2 Oct. 24 loss to the No. 4 Hi-Liners — who took the fourth spot from the Bruins by virtue of the two-set comeback victory — with a 3-1 (15-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-14) Eastern Dakota Conference Volleyball Tournament Round 1 win at the Hi-Liner Activity Center on Tuesday night.

Weekend Accidents in BC

Karl Helland, 30, of rural Kathryn, was injured Saturday when his hand and part of his arm became stuck between two steel rollers inside a baler.
Responding to the call were the Barnes County Sheriff's Office, the Barnes County Rescue Squad, Barnes County Ambulance, the Kathryn First Responders and the Litchville and Hastings Fire Departments, according to Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin.
Helland was transported to Mercy Hospital in Valley City. His condition is unknown.
