Valley City will hold a public meeting Wednesday to discuss the future of the city's renaissance zone, which is set to end in July, 2015. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Valley City City Hall to discuss potential changes to the zone, particularly to re-examine the geography of the zone to determine if adjustments should be made that would allow property owners to take advantage of the renaissance zone, according to Tony Kobbervig, a member of the Valley City Renaissance Zone Authority.

Nate Rodriguez and Jesse Johnson received invitation letters to Tuesdayâ€™s major league tryout camp at the Mandan Memorial Ballpark in South Mandan, N.D.
Rodriguez, the upcoming sophomore of this summerâ€™s Babe Ruth team, and Johnson, the to-be Enderlin-Maple Valley junior, of Legion Post 60, didnâ€™t see it coming.
â€śI had no idea it existed until I got the letter,â€ť said Johnson, nervous and excited to partake in his first such event and to get his name out to scouts. â€śMaybe some scouts saw us at Babe Ruth State last year.â€ť
Zach Doty, a 2014 Valley City High School graduate, received a Triple Crown trophy, sponsored by the North Dakota department of AmVets, for his 2013-14 Greco, Folk and Freestyle wrestling championships, at Valley Cityâ€™s Veterans of Foreign Wars Club.
â€śItâ€™s something the AmVets have done for years,â€ť said Gary D. Schlagel, Commander of Willis W. Weber AmVets Post 3. â€śItâ€™s quite an accomplishment. Anytime we can do anything for the youth and the community, itâ€™s our way of recognizing them.â€ť
Lisbon came out swinging and led 1-0 after a District inning Monday at Charlie Brown Field, but Valley City responded to finish a 17-7 win in the sixth on 18 total hits.
Down 7-1 midway through the non-District third and facing wind and rain from the northwest, Valley City tacked on seven runs in the home half for walk-off, three-inning 8-7 win.
â€śOur bats came alive for us today, and especially piling on hits from consecutive batters helped out,â€ť Babe Ruth head coach Lance Lukes said. â€śOur middle five are really swinging some good sticks.â€ť

From demolition derby to fireworks, crashes and bangs echoed from the silos during the Sanborn Fire Department's annual Fourth of July Celebration Friday.
