City Discusses Permanent Flood Control

February 11, 2014

Flooding and permanent flood control were on the minds of Valley City residents and city officials during a public meeting Thursday.
About 35 Valley City residents listened while city officials discussed the next phase of permanent flood protection and how the ongoing project would be financed.

NDWS Women's Luncheon Set for March 6

North Dakota Winter Show Women's Division luncheon is set for Thursday, March 6 at 12:30 p.m. at the Valley City Eagles Club, said Mary Ann Bertnston. Tickets for the annual luncheon cost $17, and are available at Valley Drug, Nu Cara Pharmacy (formerly Foss Drug), Central Avenue HealthMart Pharmacy, Quilted Ceiling and from Winter Show members. The entertainment for the luncheon is pop music singer Robby Vee.

Fargo North Boys Steal Hi-Liner Thunder

Hi-Liner junior forward Jared Lentz pulled down a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Fargo North at home on Friday night, but 22 Spartan steals propelled North to an 80-54 win.

Lady Hi-Liners Fall at Fargo North

Lady Hi-Liner basketball led 35-29 at halftime of Friday’s Eastern Dakota Conference game at Fargo North but came up short, 61-56, as their eight-game win streak dating back to Jan. 9 came to an end.

VC NASCAR Fan Gets Personal Autograph from Jeff Gordon

Former Valley City High School student and NASCAR fan Kelly Klein got a surprise she'll not soon forget last month when she received a personal autograph from her favorite driver Jeff Gordon.

VCHS teacher Peggy Kvien shares Klein's passion for NASCAR and Gordon, so she arranged for Gordon to sign a Hendricks Motorsports cap especially for Klein. Hendricks Motorsports is the company that maintains Gordon's #24 car.

ND Considers Adding Water to Ashtabula

14 Hi-Liner Wrestlers Make State

Class A No. 1 182-pound Hi-Liner senior Zach Doty and 220-pound sophomore third-ranked Jordan Magnuson won titles in Saturday’s Eastern Dakota Conference Regional Tournament at Fargo Davies as 14 total Valley City wrestlers qualified for Feb. 13-15’s Class A State Tournament at the Bismarck Civic Center.
