From demolition derby to fireworks, crashes and bangs echoed from the silos during the Sanborn Fire Department's annual Fourth of July Celebration Friday. Troopers in the North Dakota Highway Patrolâs southeast region will be conducting an alcohol saturation in Stutsman, Barnes, Cass, Traill and Steele counties July 3-6. Troopers from across the southeast region will be working overtime to add extra patrols during the holiday weekend.
Approximately 25 percent of all traffic fatality victims in North Dakota this year have been killed in alcohol-related crashes. The goal of the saturation is deter and detect impaired drivers to prevent additional traffic crashes and deaths because of impaired drivers.
Two local athletes who recently traveled to New Jersey in search of Special Olympics gold and silver were not disappointed with the outcome. Adam Maresh left New Jersey with three gold medals for weightlifting while Jennifer Bennett walked away with a silver medal, a fourth place ribbon and a sixth place ribbon in track and field events.
