VC Group to Show Documentary on American Economy

On Wednesday, March 26, at Valley City State University's Rhodes Science Center and on Thursday, March 27 at the Barnes County Historical Society Museum, “Inequality for All,” a powerful documentary film written by Robert Reich, will be shown at 7 p.m. both nights. Admission is free.

Days are getting warmer, seed catalogs are in mailboxes and spades and rakes are showing up in stores. It must be time to start thinking about gardening. And even those area apartment-dwellers and folks without extra outdoor space can reap the rewards of gardening by renting a space at the Valley City Community Gardens.

Blocked Culvert Causes Minor Flooding

March 19, 2014

A blocked culvert in a ditch along Main Street east of Valley City caused minor flooding Tuesday. Water roared under a bridge, nearly reaching the deck, and made its way to the street before crews arrived to open the culvert. By Tuesday afternoon, the water had begun to recede.

Monday Meeting to Cover Dangers to Youth

Parents and guardians of students of all ages are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on dangers and trends for young people Monday at 7 p.m. at the Valley City High School Theatre.

BC Water Operators Recognized

March 19, 2014

Six Barnes County water plant operators have been recognized for their work and resulting achievements from which the consumers benefitted. The six operators of six community water systems were recognized March 10 by the North Dakota Department of Health environmental health section. The recognitions are for work in 2013.
