Oestern, Peterson Feb. 3-9 Wrestlers of the Week

Hi-Liner 7th-graders Jaden Oestern and David Peterson are your Feb. 3 - 9 Farmers Union Insurance Co-Wrestlers of the Week, Farmers Union announced Feb. 12, after both competed well in the Feb. 7 Junior Varsity Eastern Dakota Conference Junior Varsity Tournament at Fargo Davies.

VC Sex Offender Sentenced

William Jason Wall, of Valley City, was sentenced last week to 10 years in prison and 10 years of supervised probation for gross sexual imposition. He will be registered as a sex offender upon his release, according to Carl Martineck, Barnes County States Attorney.

NDWS Women's Division Entertains

Diffie Concert Headlining 2014 NDWS

County Musician Joe Diffie is thrilled to headline the 2014 North Dakota Winter Show with a concert at 7 p.m. March 7. Diffie will appear with opening acts 32 Below and Parmalee. VCSU Hosts Signing Week for Students to Sign up for Dorm Living

Students at Valley City State University have a chance to sign up early to live in the university's residence halls all this week. VCSU is hosting its first ever signing week Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Housing Director Stephanie Roelfsema said signing week is an effort to promote students living in residence halls and trying to get them to commit early to that.

Two Face Drug Charges in VC

A Fargo man and woman were arrested on drug charges in Valley City Monday after a routine traffic stop.
The driver, Semereab Haile Tesfaye, 25, of Fargo and his passenger Jolynn Short Hughes, 33, also of Fargo, were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

No. 3-ranked Fargo Shanley came up with a 58-45 win in Valley City on Tuesday night, but not before a back-and-forth showdown between two valiant Eastern Dakota Conference teams for the right to two points in the EDC standings.

BEK Hosting Open House

Library Has New Cards

The long-awaited new library cards have arrived at the Valley City Barnes County Public Library, said Library Director Steve Hammel. The new cards include 14-digit bar codes to replace previously used library cards' five digit numbers. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.

Lady Hi-Liners Rebound against Devils Lake

Lady Hi-Liner senior forward Dierra Diegel, senior guard Jessica Denholm and junior guard Clarissa Olson reached double-digit points as Valley City bounced back from a two-game losing streak with a 76-49 Valentine's Day rout of Eastern Dakota Conference rival Devils Lake at home on Friday night.
