John M. Kelsch, 95, died Nov. 27, 2013, at Rancho Mirage, Calif. John was born Dec. 1, 1917, in Napoleon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andreas and Elizabeth Kelsch, who came to America from the Crimean Peninsula on the Black Sea and from Odessa, Russia in 1898, where their German ancestors farmed the land since 1805. His three brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death. Johnâ€™s wife of nearly 50 years, Katherine, died in 2001.
Thomas Joe Weber passed away Thanksgiving morning, November 28th, 2013 surrounded by his family. Tom was born on March 1, 1961 to Francis â€śFritzâ€ť Weber and Marlys (Meyer) Weber in LaMoure, ND.
Tom enjoyed riding motorcycle, hunting, Nascar and hanging out with friends and family. He would say that his greatest accomplishments in life were that he received both his GED and High School Diploma while at Job Corp, and he obtained his CDL license and his welding certification. But what Tom loved most in his life were his four children and baconâ€¦in no particular order!
Margaret O. Metz was born and passed away Thursday November 28, 2013 at the Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Maggie is the daughter of Pat and Lynn (Jackson) Metz of Gackle, ND.
She is survived by her parents, 5 brothers and 1 sister, James, Zachary, Brittany, Sean, Ian, and Dahlton; paternal grandparents-Donald & Juliet Metz, Gackle, ND; maternal grandparents, Scheller & Betty Jackson, Camden, NC; paternal great grandparents, Frieda Metz, Everette, WA; Darwin & Arlene Rudolph, Gackle, ND; and a special friend, Margo Helgeson.

The estate of Dr. Sharon Clancy, who died Oct. 5, 2012, has made $42,600 bequest to the Valley City State University Scholarship program, said her brother, Lynn Clancy, in a phone interview Monday from Bismarck. More in Tuesday's issue of the Times-Record.

Half a foot of heavy, wet snow Sunday evening into Monday afternoon caused slipping and sliding throughout Valley City and on I-94.
Valley City's Varsity bowling team of Tory Hafele, Collin Lura, Drew Oberlander, Austin Lura, Levi Nix and Matthew Lyter was the No. 8 seed at the double-elimination State meet on Nov. 23 in Williston, where they finished 0-2 against West No. 1 Williston and Minot.

Bergan Enterprises announced today that they plan to open a Pizza Ranch in the existing Roby's building on West Main Street in Valley City. Tommy Bergan will operate the business, which is set to open April 1.
Pizza Ranch's menu features pizza, an extensive salad bar, chicken, potatoes, wraps and more.

Janel Alane (Hook) Bzdok, age 58, died Monday, November 18, 2013 in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Janel was born the daughter of Lloyd and Phyllis Hook on August 22, 1955, in Valley City, ND. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Valley City and graduated from Valley City High School in 1973.
