SUV Flips in 2-Vehicle Accident

July 29, 2013

A Honda CRV rolled after being t-boned by a Volkswagon Beetle at the intersection of Second Street and Third Avenue Northeast Monday around 5 p.m. Valley City police believe there were no serious injuries. Band Shell Friends Seek Funds

Becky Heise is confident Friends of the City Park Band Shell will raise the $150,000 estimated cost to build a new foundation for the historic structure in City Park.
Heise said anyone wanting to make donations for the project can send their tax-deductible donations to the Valley City Parks and Recreation District, 4th St SW., Valley City 58072.

VCSU Creating Home For Major

Valley City State University is creating a home for computer systems and software engineering in McFarland Hall, said Greg Vanney, director of marketing and communications.
Vanney said the program is part of business and information technology at VCSU.
VCSU will offer a new undergraduate major in software engineering beginning fall semester 2013.

Streets Rumble for Cancer

July 29, 2013

The fifth annual Debbie Gabel Memorial Ride took place Saturday. About 170 riders on 130 motorcycles traveled more than 140 miles, starting in Valley City and crossing into four counties, to raise awareness of ovarian cancer and to raise money for research and the care of terminally ill patients.
The ride ended in Valley City and was followed by a silent auction, a raffle for a Polaris Ranger and a street dance, all in the name of the organizer's beloved wife, whom he lost to ovarian cancer.
