VCSU To Offer Software Major

Valley City State University will offer a new undergraduate major in software engineering beginning fall semester 2013.
“Software engineering will be a challenging and rewarding major for students,” said Susan Pfeifer, VCSU assistant professor in business and information technology.

Senior Volunteers Available

Lutheran Social Services Senior Companions are available to help seniors age 60-plus with free, non-medical in-home services in Valley City.
All senior companions are at least 55 years of age, pre-screened, trained and have a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of other seniors in their community.
On Feb. 27, Dolly Hoelmer, outreach worker for Valley City's adult services operation, said “It is a great program. Our volunteers are able to help people with vision problems, or if they just need a friend or are lonely.”

Nielson: No Good Reason to Move 9-1-1

During a regular meeting of the Valley City Commission Monday, commissioner Mary Lee Nielson said she believed Barnes County officials did not have a good reason for spending taxpayer's money to move the 9-1-1 dispatch center from the Valley City Law Enforcement Center to the basement of the Barnes County Courthouse.
