February 19, 2013

A Valley City man and two Fargo residents were all treated for minor injuries at Essentia Hospital in Fargo after a Sunday collision on Interstate 29 between the car being driven by the Valley City man and a parked North Dakota State Patrol police interceptor.

According to Highway Patrol Captain Bryan Niewind, the only person not injured in the 4:07 p.m. crash at exit 50 on Interstate 94 northbound was Trooper Joel Liebl.

Injured were Devon Scott Stephens, 19, of Valley City; Mark Cramton, 30, of Fargo; and Kimberly Cramton, 31, of Fargo.

During the early days of the North Dakota Winter Show, it wasn’t uncommon for a stray bull to run loose on Main Street in Valley City during the agriculture show. Jim Nelson, chairperson for the rodeo committee, said now that all the livestock for the rodeo are housed at the Winter Show main arena, that isn’t a problem anymore — but the event remains just as popular.

Local Grower Offers Garden-Fresh Produce

February 19, 2013

Community Supported Agriculture is an idea that has recently taken off in the Barnes County area, allowing consumers to buy local produce directly from the grower.

CSAs operate by selling shares of their products to the public. In the case of Llama Trax Gardens near Valley City, the product is vegetables, fruit, and herbs straight from the garden.

In other words, subscribers pay an up-fron fee to the Hansens, who in turn grow fresh produce which they divide up between subscribers and distribute several times during the growing season.

Does your love story relate to any of the following scenarios?

“We met when I was an exchange student in another country.”
