Pioneer Park Warming House Open to Public

December 23, 2013

Pioneer Park Warming House, located at 800 NW 4th Street, opened for the season on Saturday, Valley City Park District announced Friday.

Warming House hours are Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., and Saturday & Sunday from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Christmas Eve hours are 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Dec. 26 - Jan. 3 hours are 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Regular season hours begin Jan. 4.

The Warming House, according to policy, closes if the temperature drops to 10 degrees below zero or fewer, or if the wind chill is 19 below or less.

Pizza Corner Hero Gets Award

A Pizza Corner employee who saved a woman's life in October was recently given the Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce's monthly customer service award.
David McDonald said he's felt support and welcoming from the community ever since an article appeared in the Times-Record about McDonald's heroic act when he saved an elderly woman from choking at the restaurant the evening of Oct. 23.

BC OKs Seeking Grant

Barnes County Commissioners have authorized Southeastern District Clerk of Court Wanda Auka apply for a court facility grant from the North Dakota court system to create a permanent jury room, covering 75 percent of the estimated $32,500 total cost. More in Monday's issue of the Times-Record.

Zach Doty Still No. 1 in Coaches' Poll; 5 Hi-Liners Make Top 6's

Valley City senior Zach Doty is No. 1 in the 182-pound weight class, and five Hi-Liners in all made the Top 10 in their divisions, according to the second North Dakota Class A Wrestling Coaches' Poll released Thursday.
