With a growing oil patch in western North Dakota and the Fargo-Moorhead area expanding, the entire state of North Dakota has been recognized for its growth and low unemployment numbers lately. According to two articles published in the Times-Record Forbes recently ranked North Dakota third on their annual Best State for Business and Careers list, and in November North Dakota was ranked the best run state in the nation by the annual 24/7 Wall Street study.
Yet another city in the state has been recognized for its excellence â and this time, itâs right here.
The Barnes County Commission approved allowing Theresa Will, Executive of City-County Health, to purchase new video conferencing equipment using funds from the Center for Disease Control for the City-County Health Department during its regular meeting on Tuesday.
According to one of the CDCâs stipulations, equipment purchased with CDC funds can only be used by the health department. Currently, other departments use the equipment including the Barnes County office of the North Dakota State University Extension Service.
VCSU Women Drop in NAIA Poll
The Valley City State University womens basketball team dropped 12 spots in the sixth NAIA Division II womens basketball coaches' poll, released Tuesday.
The Vikings are ranked No. 25 in the new poll, down from No. 13 last week.
They trail in-state opponent in the rankings, including Jamestown College (No. 14) and Mayville State (No. 20), which earned its first national ranking since the 2007-2008 season.
