Valley City blood drive coordinator Pastor Dan Forsberg and the Trinity Lutheran Church have sponsored a successful blood drive. The two-day drive held in Valley City on Dec. 20 and 21 saw 94 people volunteer to donate blood and 83 were able to give. Twenty-eight people gave blood on the automated 2RBC machine which collects two units of red blood cells during the donation, so a total of 111 products were collected. One of the donors gave blood for the first time.
Students Compete in Spelling Bee

Five junior high students qualified in the semi-final round to participate in the 2013 school spelling bee finals held at VCJHS on Wednesday, January 16. Â Left to right: Â Haley Jensen, Kristina Haugtvedt, Annie Fitzell, Abby Lemnus, and Wanita Warcken. Â 7th Grader Abby Lemnus (second to right) was the runner-up, and Wanita Warcken (far right) was the school champion. Wanita will advance to the county spelling bee at VCSU on February 4th.
