Post 60 No-Hit by Wahpeton

LIDGERWOOD, N.D. — Prior to Thursday, it had been awhile since the Valley City Post 60 American Legion baseball team had to hit off Wahpeton pitcher Jeremy Bontjes. By Post 60 coach Jason Beilke's count, It had been roughly two years since he pitched against Valley City at the Sectional tournament in 2010.
So much for getting reacquainted.
Bontjes threw a no hitter in Wahpeton's 11-0, five inning win over Post 60 in the semifinals of the Section 1 tournament in Lidgerwood.

I am just a humble dog. My name is Shya Ingstad. My home dog country is America. I will defend her.

I look out on my prairie-past the farm yards of plenty. Through the lush cow pastures and from the banks of each river I swim I see an America founded on core values my foredoggers put in place for me.

I see an America where I’m free to be me, Shya Ingstad-an imperfect hound of mixed breed.

Weather Offers Chance to Chill Out

A break from an intense heat wave arrived in the area this week, and it looks to be hanging around for the weekend according to graphical forecast data from the National Weather Service in Grand Forks.

Friday’s low temperature will see the mercury sinking to 60 degrees with a 5 percent chance of rain and wind speeds at 10 mph or less. The wind speeds will remain in that range throughout the weekend.

St. Paul’s to Host Concert

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Valley City will be hosting a free indoor concert by the Christian band Koiné on Monday at 7 p.m. Prior to the concert, St. Paul’s will have a family activity night held outside on the church property from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will be a variety of games and activities for children of all ages.

The church will also serve hot dogs, pop, water, chips and cotton candy for a low price.

Woman Arrested for GSI

A Valley City woman was arrested Wednesday night on a warrant for allegedly having sexual contact with a female victim under the age of 15.
Felita Bravebull Bredeson, 20, of Valley City, was taken into custody on suspicion of the crime.

“She was arrested for Gross Sexual Imposition, “ said Valley City Police Detective Mark McDonald. “It did occur in Valley City and it did involve a 14-year-old Valley City resident.”
