The Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce announces that this yearâ€™s proceeds from the Annual â€śDuckinâ€™ Down the Sheyenneâ€ť rubber duck race will go to United Way of Barnes County.
The annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 16 during the Rally in the Valley festivities.
Applications were reviewed by the Chamber Board on Friday, May 18.
There were many local youth-orientated organizations who applied. The United Way will use the funds to support the many worthy groups within Barnes County that they support.

After a week off, I needed to get back (up to snuff). Meanwhile, Politeness will get you most anything! In â€śThe Duckling Gets a Cookieâ€ť by Mo Williams, a childrenâ€™s title, Duckling asks (politely) for a cookie, with nuts, and receives it immediately. Pigeon is jealous! He complains loudly and long about asking and not receiving. Finally, Duck says he got the cookie for Pigeon. Then Duck politely asks for another cookie, without nuts!
Spectators lined Central Avenue Saturday as they watched rivers speed down the hill in motorless cars sponsored by area businesses.
Competitors in the 17th annual Soap Box Derby were divided into two divisions, stock and super stock. The derby was conducted as a true double-elimination event with each race consisting of two heats against the same opponents. The drivers swapped lanes and wheels between each heat.
With temperatures soaring to almost 90 degrees and winds quite gusty at times. the drivers still had fun racing their gravity-powered race cars.
Eric Olson, the Libertarian candidate for North Dakotaâ€™s lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, has lived in Fargo for most of his life. He studied business administration and computer networking at Minnesota State University Moorhead and Northwest Tech. He runs XPI L.L.C., an inventory business that serves convenience stores, and also works for IMS, an internet retailer that sells military surplus equipment.
