With summer just around the corner, things are beginning to heat up in the NBA playoffs, at least in the Eastern Conference. While it surely looks like the ageless San Antonio Spurs will face the up and coming Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, things are not so clear out east. As the Chris Bosh-less Miami Heat try to survive the Indiana Pacers, the aging Big Three plus Rondo in Boston, look to sneak by the opportunistic Philadelphia 76ers.
BISMARCK (AP) — The City Council in Santa Cruz, Calif., has voted to finalize a deal with the Golden State Warriors that will enable the franchise to move its NBA Development League team from North Dakota.

Enderlin/Maple Valley plays in the Class B South Region championship game against Central Cass at 5:30 p.m. at Tinta Tawa Park in Casselton. EMV clinched a spot in the Class B state tournament with a semifinal win Tuesday.
North Dakota residents are finally being recognized for more than their friendliness, hard work ethic, oil reserves and the Coen brothers’ movie “Fargo.”
According to a report from Conning Research and Consulting, a Connecticut-based money management firm with $87 billion in assets, North Dakota ranked No. 1 in credit quality.
The rankings are based on 13 indicators including state revenue growth, year-over-year employment gains and foreclosure rates.

Blake Curtis Dinger, 42, of Bloomer, Wiscinson was cited for fleeing to elude by Jamestown police officers after leading units from Barnes and Stutsman counties on a pursuit down Interstate 94.
Police Chief Ettinger of the Jamestown Police Department said that officers received a call that there was an erratic driver at about mile marker 256 in the east bound lanes of I94. Two Jamestown Police Department units soon got behind the Jeep Cherokee.
When the driver would not pull over, two sheriff department units from the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department were called, Ettinger said.
Friday Valley City will be playing host to the family of singer Peggy Lee, in the area to attend the grand opening of the Midland Continental Depot Transportation Museum Saturday in Wimbledon, said Wes Anderson, curator of the Barnes County Historical Society Museum.

CASSELTON — Based on how things turned out the last two seasons, one would expect that the Enderlin/Maple Valley softball team be somewhat excited to clinch a spot in the first-ever Class B state softball tournament.
In both 2010 and 2011, when the sport operated with only one classification, the Falcons lost in a state qualifying game.
The girls clinched their spot at state Tuesday with a 21-5 win over Hillsboro/Central Valley in the semifinal round of the Class B South Region tournament at Tinta Tawa Park in Casselton.
