There are two ways for high school athletes to qualify for the annual state track and field meet.
One — hit a qualifying time or distance during the season. Two — get a top-six finish at the Eastern Dakota Conference regional meet.
Throughout the season, the Hi-Liners had no problems hitting qualifying times and have athletes already booked for eight events.
Saturday at the EDC Regional meet in Fargo, the team will likely get a few more.
EL PASO, TX- Despite solid pitching from starter Erik Blackwell and three right-handers out of the bullpen, the Diablos fell to the Fargo Moorhead Red Hawks on Opening Day at Cohen Stadium by a final score of 3-1.
The Diablos scratched across the first run of the season to take a 1-0 lead when center fielder Kory Drew led off the third inning with a single. Drew advanced to third on a throwing error by Red Hawks starter Kenn Kasparek and scored on second baseman Maikol Gonzalez’s RBI groundout.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The athletic directors for the University of North Dakota and North Dakota State have been talking about resuming the schools’ football rivalry in three years, but more work needs to be done before the Fighting Sioux and Bison can meet again on the gridiron.
The schools have tentative game dates in Fargo in 2015 and in Grand Forks in 2017, UND athletic director Brian Faison said.
“Until contracts are signed, it’s still tentative,” he told the Grand Forks Herald. “We’ll be sending (NDSU) contract drafts ... the first of next week.”
