NDSU Football Beats SDSU in NCAA 2nd Round

FARGO — As the North Dakota State and South Dakota State University football teams took the field for their NCAA FBS second round playoff game Saturday, all expectations were a close one.
Interstate rivalry? Check. Pockets of the stadium lined with loud crowds from either school? Check. When the teams met up just a few weeks ago at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome, the game was decided by a field goal.
But in the rematch, the visiting Jackrabbits seemed to left their lucky foot, or feet, at home.

12 Days of Christmas Campaign Starts Thurs.

The holiday season is well underway, and that means people are spending more time shopping. Dacotah Bank in Valley City hopes people in the area will support their local economy by buying their holiday gifts at stores in Valley City.

Dacotah Bank is teaming up with the Valley City Area Chamber of Commerce again this year for their campaign to push people to shop locally during the holiday season.

The campaign, which is now called “12 Days of Christmas,” starts Dec. 6 and is held every business day thereafter leading up to Christmas.

Eagles Club Raising Money for Fire Victims

The Valley City Eagles Club is raising money to help pay medical bills for Paul Komrosky, who was burned in an October furnace explosion and fire in Eckelson, and to help replace items owned by the families of Paul and his brother, Jason Komrosky, that were destroyed in the fire.

Hilma Komrosky, mother of Paul and Jason, said Friday the fundraising spaghetti dinner, silent auction and bake sale will take place 5 to 8:30 p.m. with entertainment by a band to follow Dec. 21 at the Valley City Eagle Aerie.

Quite the ‘Classic’ Annual Show Gets 550 Entries from 5 States

The largest cattle show in North Dakota, the 17th annual North Star Classic at the North Dakota Winter Show Event Center, wrapped up on Sunday, as organizers deemed it a huge success.

According to Winter Show board member Kory Sorby, the show had about 550 entries by people from five states : North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota.

The largest increase was in the number of kids in the junior classes, Sorby said. About 217 kids entered the junior class on Sunday.

“Showmanship was incredible,” said Sorby of the number of kids in the class.
