Mild weather and a sense of civic duty have brought large numbers of voters to City Hall to participate in the mayoral and commissioner recall election.

"It's been constant," said election clerk Ellen Bolstad of the crowds at City Hall.

"There's been maybe a few 10 to 15 minute lulls, but somebody's here all the time," election judge Dorothy Olson said of the healthy turnout. "That's what you have elections for, though."

NDSU Extension Service offers upcoming seminars

The North Dakota State University Extension Service has set dates for agricultural seminars to be held in the state.

The NDSU Feedlot School is underway today and tomorrow at the Carrington Research Extension Center in Carrington. The Feedlot School is an intensive series of courses for cattle producers, feeders, backgrounders, feed industry personnel and anyone else who is interested in learning more about feedlot production, nutrition, waste management and marketing.

FEMA to talk flooding at Jan. 26 town hall

Local, state and federal officials are set to hold a flood preparedness town hall meeting at the Barnes County Courthouse in the Commission Meeting Room Thursday, Jan. 26 from 6-9 p.m.

Officials with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the state Emergency Services department, as well as representatives from the State Water Commission and local emergency services will be on hand to present and hear residents' flood concerns. Topics will include the 2012 flood outlook, as well as discussion of flood insurance and flood risk mitigation.
