The Barnes County Salvation Army will begin its 2011 Bell Ringing Campaign on Nov. 25, with Joe Lunde and Dave Carlsrud as new kettle drive co-chairmen. Familiar red kettles and cheerful bell-ringers will appear at local stores on Black Friday to collect donations, and if you've ever wanted to be one of the smiling kettle drive faces, now is your chance to step up.
In an early-morning meeting that lasted only a few minutes, the Valley City City Commission approved Resolution No. 1818 by unanimous vote Wednesday morning.
The final draft of the resolution contained more specific language about the Tolna Coulee Control Structure, as well as the proposed West Stump Lake Gravity Flow Emergency Channel on Devils Lake. The resolution states that the commission will support the two structures, assuming they maintain the elevation of Devils Lake at 1,458 feet above mean sea level, allowing the lake to function as a reservoir up to that point.
The City-County Health District Board will meet at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Commission Chambers at the Barnes County Courthouse.
